Our Story & Mission – About Zetu Africa

More Than a Bag. A Movement.

Our mission is to furnish classrooms in rural schools with 1 million SeatPacks by 2030, ensuring every child has the tools to build a brighter future.

Arnold Mugaga, Founder of Zetu Africa

A News Report That Changed Everything.

“In 2016, while working as an architect, I watched a news report about a school in rural Uganda. I was struck by the sight of children sitting on the cold, hard floor, their books in the dust. The head boy, in an attempt to create a better seat, was sitting on a single brick.”

“That image stuck with me. I knew I couldn’t solve the entire education crisis, but I could solve the desk problem. I quit my job and, after countless prototypes, the Seatpack was born—not just as a product, but as a tool for dignity.”

Our Compass

These are the principles that guide every decision we make.

Radical Transparency

Our “Buy One, Give One” model is simple. Profits from our commercial Zetu bags fund the Zetu Foundation, which delivers SeatPacks to schools. See our pricing.

Community-Led

We listen. After feedback from female students, we added a dedicated pocket for menstrual products to every SeatPack, helping to reduce absenteeism. Meet our partners.

Sustainable Design

After COVID-19 disrupted supply chains, we pivoted from imported aluminum to 100% locally sourced Ugandan bamboo, conserving trees and supporting local farmers. Learn about our materials.
